=============================================================== O'Reilly Utilities -- Quick Solutions for Windows 98 Annoyances Release Notes for version 1.2 =============================================================== Changes in Service Release 1.2 (24-June-99) ------------------------------------------ (1) Fixed a bug in the Hide/Show Enhanced Taskbar solution. (2) Determining the space available on hard disks larger than 2GB was not reliable. If the solution for recommending the optimal swap file size cannot accurately determine the amount of available space, it will consider that at least 2,048MB is free and recommend accordingly. (3) Note that if you turn off the Enhanced Taskbar feature from the Disable Internet Explorer desktop integration (in the Solutions application), certain options in Windows Explorer's Folder Options dialog will no longer be available. To change theses Folder Options, turn on the Enhanced Taskbar feature in Solutions and make the changes to Folder Options. Then turn Enhanced Taskbar off again. (4) When the Default Web Browser is changed in Web Browser Delegate, the icons for Internet Shortcuts may not change accordingly until the next time Windows is started. Changes in Service Release 1.1 (2-Dec-98) ------------------------------------------ (1) Fixed a bug that displayed an incorrect dialog box saying that Folder Compare is not implemented. Folder Compare works as expected. (2) In Linkshare, added a Convert item to the bookmark/favorites context menu to allow conversion between bookmarks and favorites using only the keyboard. Highlight a bookmark or favorite and type Shift-F10 (or right-click) to display the context menu. (3) In Power Rename, added accelerator keys for all items. This change lets you use Power Rename with just the keyboard. (4) In Web Browser Delegate, changed the Custom item in the Associated Application list so that it is dimmed when it is not an available option for the selected Internet activity. Notes on Web Browser Delegate: - If you install this service release over the demonstration software included in the book "Windows 98 Annoyances," Web Browser Delegate is installed. To use the program, you must start it from Windows Explorer. Go to the folder in which you installed the Utilities (by default this is Program Files\Annoyances) and double-click the file named delegate.exe. You may add this program to your Start menu if desired (Start menu, Settings, Taskbar & Start Menu). Web Browser Delegate will remain unavailable from the Solutions application. - If you choose Windows Default for certain Internet activities (namely Default Web Browser and Default FTP Client) and click Apply, the next time you start Web Browser Delegate the associated application will be Internet Explorer. This is normal since Internet Explorer is the default application for these activities in Windows 98. - Versions of Netscape Navigator and Internet Explorer higher than 4.x may contain differences that are incompatible with the Web Browser Delegate. If you install a 5.x or higher release of your browser, check http://www.oreilly.com/catalog/utilwin98/ for any possible updates or release notes.
